Information for Camp Coordinators
Dining Services
With the Marketplace at Perry being renovated to better serve you over
the years to come, there will be some changes taking place with the
summer camps dining program this year. Summer camp meals are available
to all camps or groups on campus over the summer. There will be buffet
meals at various locations on campus. Please contact Andrew Bechard at
325-5473 to book your camps early.
Campus Card Office
Donna Buckelew
prepares the cards, sets the daily meal allowances chosen by the camp, and sets access to the appropriate residence halls.
If you need information about becoming a student at Mississippi State University, please contact us:
Sanderson Center
Camp must contact the Sanderson Center to schedule the access and camp rates. This typically involves the camp using the Sanderson Center pool for one day during the camp. Scheduling access is important, especially pool use, so that the appropriate staff (lifeguards) can be scheduled. The weight room is not available to campers under 17 years of age. Other amenities such as the climbing wall or gyms can be scheduled. Camps are escorted to their space from the front door, preferably with a camp counselor.
Housing
Lari Wright
is the contact to arrange Summer Camp Housing. Housing has developed an information pack that outlines all of the conference housing reservation procedures, policies, counselor responsibilities, and terms and conditions of occupancy. For a reservation form, visit www.housing.msstate.edu/summercamps/.
Student Health Center
Stanthia Oakley is the contact to arrange for medical services while campers are on campus. To obtain "student" status at the Health Center, campers are assessed a health fee of $0.78/ per camper. This fee provides for physicians visits at no cost, and student pricing on all
other services. This fee should not be considered insurance and services must be paid at the time of service. In lieu of paying the fee, campers may be seen at standard non-student prices. Some camps have chosen to purchase camp medical insurance policies to cover campers’ medical expenses.
Mrs. Oakley also provides the camps with standard health information sheets and parent’s authorization to treat minor children. Healthcare providers will not treat a minor child in a non-emergency situation without this parent’s authorization. Camp sponsors must retain the original authorization in order to receive treatment at other facilities
should the Student Health Center be closed.
Police
Georgia Lindley describes services normally provided by the
Police , which, includes special walkthroughs for camps that historically have experienced vandalism problems. There is a charge for this service. Johnson also stressed the importance of instructing the camp sponsors and chaperones of their responsibilities.
