UFPME
The College of Engineering at MSU is the host to the University Familiarization Program for Minorities in Engineering (UFPME). The program meets the needs of underrepresented minorities with emphasis in science, mathematics, and engineering. These students experience the engineering fields offered at Mississippi State University first-hand via hands-on classwork, laboratory investigations, and engineering presentations. MSU engineering faculty and former MSU minority engineering graduates, who are engineers by profession, also make presentations in relation to their individual engineering perspectives and educational preparations. UFPME is constructed to take away the quandary of engineering and expose students to engineering role models, resulting in highly motivated secondary students and leading to future successful college students. Intended demographics include African Americans, Asians, Hispanics, and other ethnic groups.
