Admissions & Financial Aid Workshop

Any student considering enrolling at MSU in the fall of 2014 can attend this Admissions & Financial Aid Workshop. Entering freshmen or transfers can come to campus and meet 1-1 with someone who can evaluate your transcripts or someone who can help you understand the financial aid process. The Campus Services Fair will also provide information about services available to currently enrolled students.

Highway 45 Alt. (North or South)

  1. Take Hwy 82 West to Starkville/MSU.
  2. Take Hwy 12 West/Starkville Exit (follow MSU signs).
  3. Turn left at the stop light onto Stone Blvd (you will see comfort suites on your right).
  4. Continue on Stone going past Barnes & Noble, Davis Wade Stadium and Herzer Hall.
  5. Turn left at the stop light located at the intersections of Stone and Bully Blvd.
  6. Continue straight at the 3 way stop onto Presidents Circle, going past McComas Hall.
  7. Turn right at the four way stop onto Hardy Road.
  8. The Workshop parking area will be the 4th entrance on your right.

Interstate 55 (North or South)

  1. Take Hwy 82 East exit at Winona (there will be a sign directing you to MSU).
  2. Take Hwy 82 East into Starkville.
  3. Take Hwy 12 West/Starkville Exit.
  4. Turn left at the stop light onto Stone Blvd (you will see comfort suites on your right).
  5. Continue on Stone going past Barnes & Noble, Davis Wade Stadium and Herzer Hall.
  6. Turn left at the stop light located at the intersections of Stone and Bully Blvd.
  7. Continue straight at the 3 way stop onto Presidents Circle going past McComas Hall.
  8. Turn right at the four way stop on to Hardy Road.
  9. The Workshop parking area will be the 4th entrance on your right.

From Highway 25 North

  1. Take Hwy 25 North
  2. Take Starkville Exit onto Hwy 12
  3. Turn left onto MS-12 E
  4. Take Hwy 12 all the way through Starkville going past Wal-Mart, Lowes, Walgreens, CVS Pharmacy, & McDonalds.
  5. After you cross over South Montgomery, you will want to be in the left hand lane.
  6. Cross over Spring Street (Hampton Inn on your right). The road will fork. Keep left onto Bully Blvd.
  7. Continue through the first stop light on Bully Blvd. passing Sorority Row on your right.
  8. Continue straight through the second stop light (intersection of Stone Blvd. and Bully Blvd.). You will pass the tennis courts on your right.
  9. Continue straight at the 3 way stop onto Presidents Circle, going past McComas Hall.
  10. Turn right at the four way stop on to Hardy Road.
  11. The Workshop parking area will be the 4th entrance on your right.

From Birmingham, AL

  1. From Birmingham take I-20 W/I-59 S towards Tuscaloosa.
  2. Take Hwy 82 West to Columbus.
  3. Follow Hwy 82 West for several miles to Starkville.
  4. Take Hwy 12 West/Starkville Exit.
  5. Turn left at the stop light onto Stone Blvd (you will see comfort suites on your right).
  6. Continue on Stone going past Barnes & Noble, Davis Wade Stadium and Herzer Hall.
  7. Turn left at the stop light located at the intersections of Stone and Bully Blvd.
  8. Continue straight at the 3 way stop onto Presidents Circle going past McComas Hall.
  9. Turn right at the four way stop on to Hardy Road.
  10. The Workshop parking area will be the 4th entrance on your right.

Airport Information

There are four commercial airports within two and a half hours of MSU: Birmingham International Airport, Memphis International Airport, Jackson International Airport, and Golden Triangle Regional Airport.

Jackson International Airport is approximately a two hour drive to and from the MSU campus, while Memphis and Birmingham International Airports are approximately two and half hour drives to and from MSU. There is also a local airport, Golden Triangle Regional Airport, in Columbus, MS. GTR Airport is approximately 15 miles from MSU, and is heavily used by the university community. All airports have car rental service available.



What to Bring

Program Highlights

Check in will be held in McCool Hall starting at 8:00 a.m. The event will conclude by 12:00 noon. If you are admitted by the conclusion of the workshop, then you may walk-in at Orientation that afternoon and register for classes.

Admissions Station
Meet individually with an Admissions Assistant who can evaluate your official transcripts and help you determine what items are remaining in order to be admitted or help you process any missing items that you bring with you.
Financial Aid Station
Meet individually with a Financial Aid Counselor who can help you understand the financial aid process and answer any questions about your specific financial situation as it relates to paying for college.
Campus Services Fair
Visit with representatives from offices around campus who provide various services to support currently enrolled students ranging from the Library to Housing & Residence Life.
