Candace Johnson

Hey, future Bulldogs! My name is Candace Johnson, and I'm from Prentiss, MS. My favorite place on campus is the Chapel of Memories! My friends and I would always hang out here during our down time. I would also come here to think and meditate or just enjoy alone time. Because I lived next door in Hull Hall, the tower was often my alarm clock for 8:00 a.m. classes. If you're on campus or nearby, you can hear the clock tower ring at the start of every hour. It even plays the Hail State Fight Song at 5:00 p.m. and the Maroon and White Alma Mater at 10:00 p.m. Be sure to swing by the Chapel of Memories when you come to visit Mississippi State!

What is the one experience students shouldn't miss?

Dawg Daze! This is definitely a time for new students to meet new people and get familiar with the university.

How would you describe the atmosphere at MSU?

Electric! You see and feel the love for the university all over the city. The people and traditions epitomize what it is to truly be maroon and white.

Tips for college success:

Step outside of your comfort zone. Never limit yourself academically or socially.

I loved living in a residence hall because...

It gave me the opportunity to meet so many different types of people. Living in a traditional community enabled me to form intimate relationships that I will treasure for the rest of my life.

When you visit Starkville, be sure and...

Stop by Brewski's to pick up some boiled shrimp or crawfish and a cold drink. It's the best way to end your warm, spring day!

These are my favorite things...

Ministry work with my congregation, Hallmark movies and rom-coms, a night of karaoke, and being outdoors!
