Scholarships - [ community college transfer scholarships ]
* Admission to the university and an online resume are required for scholarship consideration.
* Recipients must enroll as a full-time student the semester in which the award is received. Recipients also must remain in good standing.
Mississippi State University has a variety of academic scholarships for community college transfers including scholarships for Phi Theta Kappa, Phi Theta Kappa All-Mississippi Academic Team, and overall academic excellence.
In addition to earned outstanding honors and awards, these scholarships require a competitive GPA on a minimum of 48 transferable community college hours and excellent leadership and service activities.
Scholarship amounts are competitive and include awards ranging from the cost of books to non-resident tuition.
Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship
- Priority Date: May 1
- Award: Two-year award, $5,000 ($1,250 per semester)
- Criteria:
- Completion of at least 48 hours of transferable community college courses applicable to a bachelor’s degree at MSU
- 3.25 cumulative GPA
- Verification of membership in Phi Theta Kappa
*May not be combined with the Community College Recognition Scholarship
Community College Recognition Scholarship
- Priority Date: May 1
- Award: Two-year award, $2,500 ($625 per semester)
- Criteria:
- Completion of at least 48 hours of transferable community college courses applicable to a bachelor’s degree at MSU
- 3.0 cumulative GPA
*May not be combined with the Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship
Community College Non-Resident Tuition Scholarship
- Priority Date: May 1
- Award: 100% scholarship for the non-resident portion of tuition
- Criteria:
- Completion of at least 48 hours of transferable community college courses applicable to a bachelor’s degree at MSU
- 3.0 cumulative GPA
*May be awarded in addition to the Phi Theta Kappa and Community College Recognition Scholarships.
*Applicants who receive a non-resident tuition scholarship will not be a candidate for the Alumni Waiver, except in the summer.
Phi Theta Kappa All-Mississippi Academic Team Scholarship
- Priority Date: May1
- Award: One-year award, $1,000 ($500 per semester)
- Criteria:
- Meets Phi Theta Kappa scholarship criteria
- Named a member of the All-Mississippi Academic Team
*May be awarded in addition to the Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship
Presidential Partnership Scholarship
- Priority Date: May 1
- Award: One-year award, $800 ($400 per semester)
- Criteria: Awarded to two students from each community or junior college in Mississippi nominated by their institution’s president
