  • Admissions Counselor for Campus Visits

The Chapel of Memories is special to me for very personal reasons. The sorority I was a member of while attending MSU held initiation at the Chapel of Memories. Many of my lifelong friendships began because of that organization and a few of the ladies will be serving as bridesmaids at my wedding ... which will be held at, you guessed it, the Chapel of Memories. The chapel will always hold a special place in my heart.

What is your favorite tradition at MSU?

Hands down my favorite tradition is the "State spell-out" before home football games. Growing up I attended games with my family and I would get chills watching the pregame show. To this day, I always make sure I make it into the stadium in time for the pregame show. The show reminds me that the Bulldog Family has the best fans who love to cheer on their team!

Favorite season on campus?

Without question, the best time of year on campus is fall. New students are so excited to begin their MSU journey and returning students are reuniting with their friends after the summer break. Campus is always buzzing with excitement for fall events. Of course fall means sports, and not just football. Women's basketball starts in late fall and I am a superfan! I'm always ready to go to the Hump for hoops!

What advice do you have for future students?

My advice is to get involved and try out for everything! Don't get discouraged when something doesn't work out, because you'll always end up right where you were meant to be. I wish someone would have told me that before my freshman year. Getting involved is the best way to meet new people and become invested in the community.

What is your favorite on-campus treat?

The Dairy Processing Plant on campus makes MSU ice cream, and it is incredible! My personal favorite is muscadine. MSU ice cream can be bought at the MAFES store or State Fountain Bakery. While you're at MAFES you can also buy my second favorite campus treat...MSU Edam cheese. I could eat it every day.

When you visit Starkville, be sure and...

Visit Strange Brew Coffeehouse. Strange Brew is a legendary Starkville coffee shop and the owner is a huge Bulldog fan. When you visit, try one of their classics, such as a Blueberry Cobbler drip coffee or an Albino Squirrel. Strange Brew is also the official coffee of the MSU Alumni Association. Strange Brew kept me going during late nights all throughout college!

Why did you choose to become an admissions counselor?

My time as a student at MSU is filled with so many happy memories. I absolutely loved beginning my college career and I now get to help students with the same exciting transition. It is such a fun time that can also be extremely stressful. I like helping calm nerves and assisting students and parents with the next step. Also, I get to talk about MSU all day. I have the best job on earth!
