I was originally an out-of-state student, but I have since fallen in love with the state of Mississippi thanks to my experiences as a student at Mississippi State. I majored in English and Philosophy with a concentration in Religion. I taught 9th and 10th grade English before becoming your Admissions Counselor, and I still love reading, writing, and talking about literature, philosophy, education, and theology!

Get to know me

What's your favorite tradition at MSU?

Of course, the Cowbell is a rich tradition at MSU that I love dearly, but I might have to say one of my favorite moments was when I witnessed the START of a new tradition in 2014 when we were 7-0 and #1 in the country lead by Dak. In the fourth quarter of what should have been our 8th victory, the song "Don't Stop Believin" by Journey was played over the jumbotron and all of Davis Wade Stadium sang in unison with cell phone flashlights lit! We have continued this at the start of every 4th quarter since.

If you attended MSU, did you have a favorite class or professor?

My favorite class at MSU was Modern Western World History with Dr. Stephen Brain. That class alone almost made me change my major to History. It felt like we'd entered into a time machine every time we walked into that classroom and we got to EXPERIENCE the unfolding narrative of history instead of just memorizing dates and place names for an exam.

What is your favorite student organization & why?

The student organization that had the largest impact on my life in college and since graduation would have to be my fraternity. I joined Beta Upsilon Chi as a freshman at MSU and the men of that chapter built me up in my faith and encouraged me in such a way that developed me into the man I am today. Additionally, my experience recruiting for the fraternity and giving tours of campus for the Office of Admissions and Scholarships as a Roadrunner led me to this career that I love so much!

Where is your favorite place to shop in Starkville?

I'm not a big shopper, but I do enjoy supporting local businesses in the Starkville community. One of my best friends sells her pottery (Taproot Pottery) in George-Mary's boutique and Nine-Twentynine Coffee Bar. Proof and Power of the Almond are phenomenal artisan bakeries in town. I basically just love being out and about spending quality time with my friends and loved ones. I'd be equally as happy hosting dinner or Bible study and sitting around the fire in my home!

Current Netflix show you are obsessed with:

The best show in existence is Netflix's "Dark." This is not a matter of opinion, and it is not up for debate. Go watch it. Now.
