Jacob Istre

Hometown: Centerville, TN

Major: Cemistry (previously Undeclared)

For this Tennessee native, choosing a college was easy: Both his parents are MSU alumni, so he was born a Bulldog. The real challenge? Choosing a major.

Despite his uncertainty, Jacob dove headfirst into university life. He thrived in the Honors College, especially the Quest courses, where small groups of classmates explore great works in art, music,
literature and film as a springboard for philosophical discussions and creative learning projects. For example?

Chandler Guy

Hometown: Summit. MS

Double Major: Forestry & Political Science

After his freshman year, Chandler Guy took a life-changing detour. Chandler joined the U.S. Marines, then came back to Mississippi State in 2013.

“It made me take college seriously.”

Ross Rodgers

Hometown: Olive Branch, MS

Major: Secondary Education

By the time Ross came to MSU, it already felt like home.

“I came up in high school to visit my brother. Everyone was really welcoming!”

One day, Ross hopes to be a college professor. At MSU, he learns by doing.

“We spend lots of time in classrooms as student teachers. There’s no better practice than actually doing it!”

Sally Morgan

Hometown: Milton, GA

Major: Marketing & PGA Golf Management

You might say Sally Morgan began her career preparation when she was four years old. That’s when she took up golf, an endeavor that is taking her places in her life and her career.

Sally knew she wouldn’t be a professional golfer but felt confident that she could be successful in the golf industry. After looking at several other schools, she chose Mississippi State because of the credibility of the school’s PGA program, the big-time D1 atmosphere and the “SEC buzz.”

Joy Carino

Hometown: Starkville, MS

Double Major: English & Mathematics

As a Starkville native, MSU’s vibrant community was a huge part of Joy’s childhood. From big events like the International Fiesta, to children’s plays for elementary students, she grew up thinking,

“I want to be part of this!”

Martina Walker

Hometown: Clinton, MS

Major: Interior Design

When this aspiring interior designer took an Academic Insight tour of MSU’s College of Architecture, Art and Design, she knew she was in the right place.

“It really showed me what I could do with my major and what my classes would be like.”

Cecelia Andreo

Hometown: Pace, FL

Major: Food Science, Nutrition and Health Promotion

Cecelia Andreo first visited Mississippi State during her senior year of high school. After that visit, there was no turning back.

“I loved the small-town environment and the SEC energy.”

Isaiah Young

Hometown: Madison, AL

Major: Electrical Engineering

Isaiah Young was no stranger to Mississippi State. His dad, Jarrod Young, played football for the Bulldogs during the Rocky Felker era.

"I visited other schools, but MSU was the only one I strongly considered."

Bryson Wallace

My favorite place on the entire campus has to be the Holmes Cultural Diversity Center. It is located on the 2nd floor in the student union, and it is the birthplace of my student involvement. I met some of my best friends in this office and made memories that will last a lifetime. This place definitely holds a special place in my heart.

Chasten McCrary

McCool Hall is where I started my journey as a Marketing major. However, McCool isn’t just for business students. It’s a great place to study and host organizational meetings. You’ll always meet someone new here!
