Will my classes transfer?

For Mississippi Institutions & select other Out-of-State Institutions, please visit the Transfer Course Equivalencies page.

For all other Out-of-State Institution Equivalencies, please call the Registrar’s Office at 662-325-2022 or send a detailed email to transferarticulation@registrar.msstate.edu requesting the course be reviewed. Email should include name of school, course symbol, course number, and course title.


When does the application for admission open?

Registration opens on August 1st at 12:01 a.m.

How do I "confirm" that I will be attending MSU?

Registering for Orientation is the way you "confirm" you are attending MSU!

What are the freshmen requirements for admission?

Admission is granted to those who meet the freshmen admissions criteria. There are additional options for those that do not meet the requirements.

How long does it take until I find out if I am admitted?

Normally about 2-3 weeks after we have received all of your information. 

What are the transfer requirements for admission?

Admission is granted to those who meet the transfer admissions criteria.

When are the priority dates?

  • December 1 for Competitive, Departmental, and Private Scholarships
  • April 1 for Financial Aid
  • April 1 for Freshman Housing Assignments
  • June 1 for Community College Transfer Scholarships
  • August 1 for Leadership & Service Scholarships

What is the status of my application?

What do I do if I forget my application login or password?

Try the Password Maintenance section located under the login button on the Returning Applicant page or click here.

If you are still having issues, please contact us by phone at 662-325-2224 or by email at admit@msstate.edu.

If you are having trouble with your NetID or NetPassword (you will receive your NetID after being admitted), then you will have to contact the IT Department at 888-398-6394 or 662-325-0631 or visit here to reset your NetPassword.

How do I pay for my application fee?

  • Online – log in to your application and pay the fee with a credit card
  • By Phone – call the Office of Admissions at 662-325-2224
  • By Mail – mail the application fee to the address below

How do I qualify for an application fee waiver?

Mississippi State University will waive the admissions application fee for freshmen applicants who submit an approved ACT/SAT or NACAC Request for Waiver of College Application Fee form obtained from and signed by their high school counselor. This waiver is need-based and not related to the scores received on the ACT/SAT test.

How do I make changes to an application or withdraw my application?

Students who have not attended MSU must submit a written request to admit@msstate.edu including your name, MSU NetID number, and birthdate

How do I apply if I have previously attended MSU?

Contact the Registrar’s Office at 662-325-2022 with questions or apply online through the Registrar’s site under the Former Students section.

Are immunization records required before admission?

No, immunization records may be submitted after you are admitted to MSU. For information on how to submit your forms, please see the Next Steps list.

How do I cancel my application?

Email admit@msstate.edu with your request and include:

  • Full name
  • Date of birth
