Sanderson Center

Staying healthy and fit is fun for students with a free membership to the Sanderson Center’s 150,000 square feet of recreation space. Whether you want to put in serious training in the weight room, break a sweat dancing in a Zumba class, work on your rock climbing skills, or cool down swimming laps, the Sanderson Center has something for everyone.

The Holmes Cultural Diversity Center is a home away from home for many students. The HCDC encourages and assists minority and international students with their academics, career aspirations, and social adjustments to college life.

Center for America’s Veterans

Mississippi State University has been dedicated to supporting veterans since our founding in 1878. The G.V. “Sonny” Montgomery Center for America’s Veterans provides numerous programs and services to veterans, service-members, dependents, and survivors, including transition and counseling services, career and family assistance, and much more. Also, MSU is the first institution of higher learning in the nation to partner with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to provide medical services to veterans.

Student Counseling Services

Life can be very challenging sometimes, but the MSU Student Counseling Services are here to help. Counseling services are provided to all currently enrolled MSU students through individual sessions and group sessions that cover topics including relationship issues, eating/body image issues, ethnicity and gender issues, and many more.

Sick as a dawg or just need to fill your prescription? The John C. Longest Student Health Center is here to help! Located just steps from the Drill Field, students can visit a physician and fill their prescription without ever leaving campus.

Health Education & Wellness

MSU provides a wide variety of health education and wellness programs for students, including nutrition services, mental health education, tobacco cessation treatment, sexual health education, general health services, relationship violence education, and even a Collegiate Recovery Community.

The MSU Police Department is a full-service agency that is available 24 hours a day. In addition to traditional services, the MSU Police Department operates a bike patrol, numerous safety programs, and Bully Patrol - a night patrol service to escort students to their cars or buildings.

The Colvard Student Union is a three-story “campus living room” complete with a food court, convenience store, Starbucks, numerous study and meeting spaces, a beauty salon, and even a porch with rocking chairs!

The on-campus Barnes & Noble Bookstore is a one-stop shop. Fans can grab their maroon gear before the game, book lovers can snag the latest best-sellers, thirsty patrons can grab a cup of Starbucks, and students can pick up their textbooks with ease all right on campus!

Chadwick Lake

A one-mile walking track surrounds the picturesque Chadwick Lake beside the Sanderson Center. A sunrise or sunset walk around the lake is a great way to take a break from tests, studying, and stress in general. Fishermen also like to visit the lake to catch bass, crappie, and catfish.
