As a young girl, Aryn dreamed of being an architect. “I love photography and drawing, so I thought architecture would include these interests,” she says. To test her hunch, she attended MSU’s Design Discovery camp one summer during high school. Turns out, she was right.
If you don’t know what you want to study, Aryn says, “Go to MSU’s events!” Academic Insight, recruitment fairs and interest-driven camps like the one Aryn went to are designed to help you find your niche. That’s how Aryn got connected with the architecture department at MSU. The rest, as they say, is history.
In the balance between feeling at home and finding adventure, Aryn feels her choice to stay in-state gives her the best of both worlds. “I like being somewhere that feels familiar,” she says, “but just because you go to college in-state doesn’t mean you won’t see the world!”Aryn’s studies have led her to Seattle, Chicago, Philadelphia and abroad. She dreams of working in New York. By landing a prestigious internship with the global design firm, Gensler, she’s getting a head start on that goal: She’ll spend her summer in a sleek Manhattan office, making MSU proud.
